17-4 stainless steel develops its strength and hardness through heat treating. This makes it well suited to applications that require ease of fabrication and then the addition of strength/hardness for improved reliability. 17-4 stainless steels provide an outstanding combination of high strength and good corrosion resistance characteristics. 17-4 stainless steels provide toughness in both base metals and welds.
